Diet Plans | From Fat Chance To Second Chance For A Diet Pill Maker?

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

Three months after Orexigen Therapeutics shelved further development plans for its Contrave diet pill because the FDA made an “unprecedented” request for additional clinical trial work, the aspiring drug developer has reached an unexpected deal with the agency to proceed with a cardiovascular study.

At issue are concerns over cardiovascular risks that prompted the FDA to request a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, which Orexigen execs claimed “would generate significantly more information than is necessary or feasible.”Now, though the FDA agreed to a study involving 10,000 patients and would be completed and reviewed

“I think this was a multi-pronged effort that we built to create some momentum that helped the process,” Orexigen ceo Michael Narachi told analysts on a conference call last night. “…This drug, which we always believed could benefit patients, has a clear path to market” (see a statement here ).

The disclosure comes just one week after the FDA agreed to reconsider yet another diet pill. Vivus, which is developing the Qnexa weight-loss drug, will pursue an indication for men and women who do not have the potential to have children, and will resubmit data

The moves suggest that there may – emphasis on ‘may’ – be a future after all for this latest round of forthcoming diet pills, each of which has suffered setbacks trying to overcome regulatory hurdles. Last year, the FDA also rejected the Lorqess drug from Arena Pharmaceuticals due, in part, to concerns the pill may cause tumors in rats and that efficacy was marginal ( back story ).

As Leerink Swann analyst Joshua Schimmer wrote in an investor note, “With over 70 million Americans now defined as obese, weight loss has become a major unmet medical need and is a major contributor to significant conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.” This helps explain why the FDA plans to hold an advisory committing meeting early next year to review diet pills.

However, the FDA has been particularly cautious about approving new diet pills. The backdrop, of course, is greater agency emphasis on safety and, in particular, the 1997 withdrawal of Pondimin, which was one-half of the infamous fen-phen weight-loss cocktail and its chemical cousin, Redux, over links to serious heart and lung side effects.

The agency is also concerned that diet pills may be prescribed and used inappropriately. The fen-phen craze spawned a number of so-called pill mills and FDA officials fear that many consumers will rely too heavily on diet drugs without simultaneously altering their diet or exercising more. And with various safety signals showing up in this new trio of pills, the FDA deliberately exercised restraint.

Diet Plans | Amp Energy Giving Way To Diet Mountain Dew On Earnhardt’s No. 88

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

The shift is a major downsizing in the sponsorship between Amp, an upstart energy drink, and Earnhardt, the sport’s biggest driver. Pepsi, which owns Amp and Mountain Dew, has one year left on its contract with Earnhardt and Hendrick Motorsports, and the company’s executives believe Diet Mountain Dew, which is one of the fastest-growing soft drinks, stands to benefit more from Earnhardt than Amp.

“The story is really about opportunity,” said George Cox, Mountain Dew brand manager. “With Dew, Dale and NASCAR there’s this awesome marriage. Dale is the embodiment of the person we’re trying to target with Diet Dew. We wanted to tap into that equity Dew has in NASCAR and put it into overdrive with Dale.”

Pepsi and Hendrick Motorsports are expected this week to unveil a new paint scheme for the No. 88 car for next year’s Daytona 500. The unveiling comes just weeks after Earnhardt signed a five-year extension with Hendrick Motorsports that will keep him with the team until 2017.

Cox said Pepsi plans to focus on developing its marketing and activation plans for Diet Mountain Dew and won’t begin discussing a possible renewal with Hendrick until next year. Its current agreement with Hendrick and Earnhardt runs through 2012, but the company has had a long-standing relationship with Hendrick that dates to 1996.

Amp Energy signed a deal with Hendrick Motorsports and Earnhardt in 2007, shortly after the team added Earnhardt to its stable in one of the sport’s most anticipated free-agent signings. The sponsorship was valued at $25 million to $30 million and made the brand the primary sponsor for 20 races on the No. 88 Chevrolet.

At the time, Amp was the fifth-largest player in a fast-growing category, which then had more than $6 billion in annual sales. But the category’s growth has stalled recently. The category added only 1 million new energy drink consumers between 2007 and 2009, compared with 9.3 million new consumers from 2005 to 2007, according to Mintel, a global market research company. Amp Energy has remained a small player in the category, generating an estimated $234 million for the past year across key retail channels for energy drinks except Wal-Mart, according to SymphonyIRI Group, a company that tracks retail sales across consumer packaged goods.

The shrinking number of new consumers made it difficult for Amp to justify the cost of the sponsorship. The brand also is planning to relaunch its product later this year and reposition it as an energy drink for older users, sources said.

Though not as prevalent, Amp Energy will continue to have an association with Earnhardt, which PepsiCo hopes can preserve the connection Amp made with NASCAR fans during the past four years.

“They’re going to continue to speak to the NASCAR Amp drinker we’ve developed, but Amp is going through an evolution,” Cox said. “We’re not to a point of where we can talk about where we’re going with that, but once it’s public it will make sense how we’re using the NASCAR platform going forward.”

Diet Plans | Diet Doc HCG Diet And Weight Loss Creates New Weight Maintenance After …

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) September 19, 2011

Diet Doc hCG Diet and Weight Loss announces a new weight maintenance hcg phase 3 diet. Each is as important as the other explains, Julie Wright, president of Diet Doc.

Diet Doc Phase 1: Dieters consume high fat, high calorie food to set their body up for success during the low calorie hcg diet program of phase 2.

Diet Doc Phase 2: Dieters go on a low calorie diet averaging 700 to 1000 calories per day on the hcg diet program. The Diet Doctor personalizes the hCG diet for each person and then rolls 4 diet plans into one master diet specific for each person. Diet Doc dieters report losing an average of 1 pound per day.

Phase 3: Weight maintenance program after the hCG Diet program. Diet Doc hCG Diet announces it’s proprietary Maintenance program that will help keep the weight off long term reports Wright.Diet Doc Ph 3 Maintenance is when foods are brought back into the diet that were not allowed during the low calorie weight loss phase. Any spike in weight should be a red flag that those foods could result in weight gain. The dieter is then encouraged to reframe or limit these foods reports Wright.

Diet Doc hCG Diet often discovers the reason people failed on past diets. Extreme sensitivity to sugar is the primary cause states Ms. Wright. For those individuals, it’s often a case of their blood sugars being high from a weight loss perspective, reports Dr. Rao, Diet Doc medical director. This is a huge problem for many people. Once we eliminate the sugar, even fruit and tomatoes, the weight comes off at a rapid, safe rate, up to 1 pound per day reports Dr. Rao.

Weight loss is actually a complex medical condition which requires a doctors supervision who understands the mechanisms for weight loss reports Dr. Rao.

The Diet Plan by MyReviewsNow

Posted: Sep 17, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

The Joy Bauer diet plan, also called “Your Inner Skinny,” is a comprehensive diet program designed to help overweight individuals lose weight and make permanent, healthy lifestyle changes. Those following the diet plan will eat three meals each day and one evening snack. Participants are encouraged to eat within 90 minutes of awakening and refrain from eating after 9 pm. Additionally, those following the program are encouraged to exercise up to one hour per day. The diet plan is divided into the following four steps:

Stage One

The first stage is also called the release stage, during which the dieter focuses intensely on eliminating all unhealthy foods from his or her life. During this phase, dieters are required to end their “loyalty” to specific foods and unhealthy eating habits. Processed fare and high-starch foods are completely eliminated in lieu of healthier choices.

Stage Two

Referred to as the relearning stage, at stage two dieters will begin to practice new eating habits that will hopefully lead to permanent lifestyle changes. The diet focuses on low-starch carbohydrates such as beans, fruits, vegetables and whole grains, as well as healthy fats such as walnuts, avocados and olive oil. Lean protein is also a staple of the diet plan, and Bauer suggests that dieters stick with low-fat dairy products, lentils, soy, chicken, fish and eggs as their major protein sources.

Stage Three

Also referred to as the reshaping period, stage three of the diet continues until the participant is satisfied with his or her weight loss results. Throughout this stage dieters must focus on making their new eating habits permanent. The program contains tips to help individuals identify foods that trigger overeating and permanently eliminate such foods from their diet.

Stage Four

At stage four, also called the reveal stage, one must simply embrace the changes learned in the first three stages and enjoy his or her new weight.

Additional Recommendations

30-60 minutes of exercise each day is encouraged during all four stages of the diet plan, and Bauer recommends that such exercise should include both aerobic activity and resistance training. Healthy snacking is also an integral part of the diet plan, and participants are encouraged to stock up on healthy snacks such as fresh vegetables and fruit, along with moderate amounts of low fat yogurt and healthy nuts. Bauer also tells dieters to plan and shop for healthy foods in advance in order to avoid turning to convenience products or processed foods when pressed for time.

Sample Diet

The diet plan offers a substantial variety of food from which one can choose. Bauer states that this helps dieters feel less deprived and prevents them from turning back to their old eating habits. The diet plan centers around foods that provide a feeling of fullness, but are low in calories and fat. Bauer recommends eating a vegetable-rich soup or salad before meals, which causes a person to consume less food throughout the meal’s main course. After the vegetable soup or salad, the main meal might feature seasoned chicken breasts and a generous serving of cauliflower, or a grilled salmon filet and a large portion of broccoli.

Overall Benefits of the Diet Plan

With a strong emphasis on healthy fats, whole grains, vegetables and fresh fruit, the diet plan can help people make healthier food choices whether or not they are specifically concerned about weight loss. Bauer also emphasizes what she refers to as “mindful eating” which essentially means that dieters are encouraged to make permanent changes in their relationship with food. The latter is something that almost all professional dietitians and nutritionists recommend for long-term weight loss success.

Additional Considerations

While most of the recommended foods for each stage of the diet plan are satisfying to many individuals, certain carbohydrates can only be consumed during stage three of the plan, which some dieters may find restrictive. In addition, if one is not familiar with how to cook, or has considerable time constraints, this may pose a dilemma. While one frozen meal a week is allowed, provided it does not exceed 360 calories, most meals associated with the diet must be prepared from scratch. However, many of the recipes are not extremely time consuming, therefore dieters can reserve the easiest recipes for their most hectic days.

The Joy Bauer diet plan has not yet been clinically tested, but most nutritionists agree that weight loss is likely for the majority of individuals who adhere to the program. It also embraces many of the heart-healthy eating tips published by the United States Food and Drug Administration. However, one should not begin a new diet or exercise program without first seeking the advice of his or her primary health care provider.

Diet Plans | Hugh Jackman’s ‘Ros Diet’ Is One Celebrity Diet I Can Get Behind

    Saturday, September 17th, 2011

Although Jackman’s comments were tongue-in-cheek, it is refreshing to hear a celebrity admit that their workout routine isn’t always fun. Plenty of stars claim that they don’t work out at all, despite their superfit gym bodies, and others have personal trainers and specialized routines that the average person might not be able to recreate for themselves. It’s nice to hear Jackman admit that he works out because he has to, not always because he wants to. Even Wolverine has to push himself to get up in the morning and work out, and I think even the most dedicated exercise fanatic has had a day or two where getting up early to lift weights was a bit of a struggle. And the ros does sound pretty appealing right about now. Especially if Mr. Jackman would like to join me for a glass.

    High fiber diet plan

    Posted: Sep 14, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

Ahigh fiber diet planis very useful for many health issues. It can help you lower your weight, lower cholesterol, relieve constipation and improve your skin. In this article I will show you an example of high fiber diet plan.

    What is fiber?

Fiber is the indigestible portion of plan foods. There are two kind of fiber:

    • Soluble fiber is a kind of fiber that dissolves in water and form a gel which slows down digestion. It makes you feel full longer because your digestion is slower. Soluble fiber also creates beneficial bacteria that produce natural antibiotics which eliminate potentially harmful bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli. Sources of soluble fiber: nuts, oatmeal, apples, oranges, pears, strawberries, beans, carrots, blueberries and cucumbers.
    • Insoluble fiber does not dissolve in water and are commonly known as roughage. This kind of fiber has laxative effect which prevents constipation. Because the fiber does not dissolve in water they are passed quickly through your intestine. Sources of insoluble fiber: whole wheat, whole grains, wheat bran, corn bran, nuts, tomatoes, carrots, barley, brown rice, celery, broccoli, cabbage, onions, dark leafy vegetables, raisins, grapes, fruit, cucumbers and green beans.

Both types are equally important tolose weight. The soluble fiber which runs slowly through your digestive system will reduce your appetite. Insoluble fiber which runs quickly through your digestive system will act as a colon cleanses which can lead to weight loss. Foods with high fiber usually has low calorie so that will help you too.

You should take fiber between 20 to 35 grams a day, about 20 grams fiber for women and 35 grams fiber for men. To meet the requirements you need to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. You should include fruits or vegetable in you breakfast, lunch and dinner. Here’s an example of high fiber diet plan:

    • Breakfast: a bowl of bran or other high-fiber cereal with an orange and low fat milk
    • Lunch: a whole wheat bread tuna sandwich with peach.
    • Snack: an apple and a handful of nut
    • Dinner: pizza made of whole wheat flour, cheese and salad

Tips on High fiber diet plan

    • Eat whole fruit instead of juice
    • Read food label and look for “fiber”. 5 grams of fiber per serving is considered as high fiber food.
    • Eat a vegetarian menu at least once a week.
    • User raw vegetables as snacks
    • Add nuts, seeds, and legumes in your salad.

Diet Plans | Lose Weight And Get Healthy With The 21-Day Vegan Kickstart Program

    Friday, September 16th, 2011

There has been an incredible amount of science coming out of late in support of a plant-based diet, and how it helps you to lose weight and turn your health around. It is becoming all the more evident that a nutrient-dense, high-fiber diet can not only tame obesity , but it can prevent and reverse the killer diseases of our time: heart disease , Type 2 diabetes and even some kinds of cancer .

So, how do you shift gears and start eating better, when meat, dairy and eggs is so ingrained in your daily regimen? One of the best programs I’ve seen to assist the process is Dr. Neal Barnard’s 21-Day Vegan Kickstart Program . It’s doctor supervised, medically sound and chock full of tips, recipes and support.

In the following interview, I’ve talked with Dr. Neal Barnard, president of The Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine about exactly what happens in the program. Barnard is an adjunct associate professor of medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine and the author of numerous scientific articles in leading peer-reviewed journals, as well as a frequent lecturer at the American Diabetes Association’s scientific sessions. His diabetes research was funded

KF: Why did you create this program and how has the response been?

NB: The response has been huge. We’re zeroing in on something like 200,000 participants so far and they have loved it.

It all started with the research studies we do here at PCRM, where we help people to transition to a plant-based diet, and then we track the results. People lose weight, their cholesterol and diabetes improve, and so forth.

In helping people change their diets, two tricks seem to make all the difference: First, we focus on the short term — so there is no commitment at all about what you’re going to eat six months or a year from now. And second, we work as a group. All our research participants get together every week. They share successes and challenges, swap recipes and keep each other going strong.

The question then was, how can you get the same kind of support if you don’t live near our office in Washington, DC? So we launched the 21-Day Vegan Kickstart program in the fall of 2009 so people can do it wherever they are. It’s all online. They get tons of support, they can talk with each other, and the whole program is fun and very quick — just three weeks — and it’s free.

People like the personal and social aspect of it. Every day, participants get an email from one of our Kickstart coaches — celebrities, doctors, athletes — with embedded short videos, recipes, menus and lots of tips.

I might mention that your tips have been especially valuable, Kathy. And people feel like they get to connect with their coaches a bit and profit from their knowledge.

KF: That’s great. Thanks, Neal! So, is the program primarily for weight loss or getting healthy?

NB: It’s really for both, depending on what you need. In our research, we’ve found that most everyone loses weight, unless they are already at their ideal weight. And their cholesterol levels fall, too. If they have high blood pressure or diabetes, those conditions improve and sometimes go away. And what matters most is that you’re being pulled out of an unhealthy rut and getting into a good healthy groove that will bring you toward your goal. KF: Can you give us some inspiration? What have past participants experienced?

NB: We hear from our Kickstarters all the time. So many people describe it as just the experience they need to break away from unhealthy habits. Let me share a message that just came in from a participant who jumped into the program earlier this year:

I’ve been a Kickstarter and a vegan for a little less than five months now, and I just hit the 50 pounds lost mark. I have tons of energy and walk twice a day with my dog. I was on the verge of having to take meds for Type 2 diabetes, but that is no longer an issue. I no longer have to take cholesterol meds. The dosage of my blood pressure med has been cut in half and I’m hoping I’ll be able to go off that entirely soon.

Before going vegan, I had a very strong sense that I wasn’t going to live very long. I knew that you couldn’t weigh what I weighed and eat what I ate and live to a ripe old age. It just doesn’t work that way. I would look at my young nieces and nephews and wonder if I would live to see them graduate from college, get married, have children. And I honestly didn’t expect to. I truly expected to die from a heart attack at a young age.

I don’t feel that way any longer. I feel healthy and hopeful. I expect to be here for a long, long time.

Many people have found their diabetes gradually vanishes, their arthritis pains go away and they really feel good again.

KF: What are a few of the changes participants will be making?

NB: We are going to jump into a vegan diet for three weeks. But because that sounds a little daunting, we will get you ready with recipes, restaurant and fast-food tips, and lots of information about how to plan healthy meals. So a few days ahead of time, you’ll get daily emails that walk you through it bit

Then, on Day 1 of the program, we’ll again detail what’s in and out of the program. What’s in are fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans. And, what’s out are animal products — including meat, cheese, dairy and eggs. And that’s it.

KF: How does switching out cow’s milk for non-dairy milk affect weight loss? Health? NB: It is so much better to pick soymilk, almond milk, rice milk or one of the other nondairy milks.

Cow’s milk contains so much saturated fat, not to mention cholesterol. Low-fat cow’s milk is lower in fat, of course, but it’s high in sugar — that is, lactose sugar. In fact, the calorie content of skim milk is the same as a typical soda. Other dairy products, such as cheese, yogurt, butter and ice cream also contribute significant amounts of cholesterol and fat, and you’re better off without them.

Many people find that arthritis, migraines or other problems improve or disappear when they get away from cow’s milk. Several studies have linked cow’s milk to prostate cancer — apparently due to various hormonal effects of milk products.

KF: A lot of people think they are doing well

NB: Well, there are actually two parts of the egg that you’ll need to avoid: the yolk and the white!

Egg yolk is loaded with cholesterol. There’s more cholesterol in a single egg yolk than in an 8-ounce steak. Egg white is just a solid mass of animal protein, which is a problem for the health of your bones and your kidneys. You are much better off getting your protein from plant sources. Oh yes, and I forgot to mention salmonella ….

So, if you are baking and the recipe calls for eggs, you can substitute with egg replacer, which you’ll find at any health-food store. Some people use applesauce or tofu as binders, too. If you are looking for a breakfast scramble, try a Tofu Scramble. It is lighter, cholesterol-free and beats the socks off eggs.

KF: Some doctors still recommend “lean meats” to their patients, but you say that’s not a good idea — why not?

NB: They are not really lean. Even skinless chicken breast gets about 23 percent of its calories from fat, and it has plenty of cholesterol and saturated fat that contribute to heart problems. American now eat more than one million chickens per hour. And collectively, we are in the worst shape we’ve ever been in.

For some reason, many people have not yet gotten the message that animal protein is unhealthful, too — just as animal fat is. As I mentioned, it’s a major contributor to osteoporosis and kidney problems.

KF: What is the harm in an Atkins or Ducan, high-protein type diet?

NB: Let me describe what can happen. A man in Florida contacted us because he had gone on an Atkins diet trying to lose a few pounds. He was only slightly over his ideal weight, but the diet was popular and he figured it must be safe. He followed the instructions about avoiding fruit, bread, cookies, pasta, rice, potatoes, beans and every other source of carbohydrate — and he did lose a bit of weight. In the process, he let his meat intake increase, because the Atkins book allowed that. As the weeks went

He then abandoned the Atkins diet and switched to a vegan diet. He found that a plant-based menu solved both of his problems. It kept the weight off and helped his heart at the same time.

Normally weight loss causes cholesterol to fall. But for about one-third of Atkins dieters, everything goes in the wrong direction, and their cholesterol levels sometimes go through the roof.

They also lose calcium, as researchers have found with urine tests. Over the long run, the concern is that that could lead to osteoporosis.

KF: For the record, how much protein do we need per day?

NB: Less than you might imagine. An average-sized woman should get roughly 50 grams per day, or perhaps a bit less than that. An average-sized man should get slightly more than that. Americans now get about twice as much protein as they need.

Plants give you plenty of protein. Beans, grains and vegetables are loaded with it. Broccoli doesn’t like to brag, but it’s about 30 percent protein.

KF: How should someone deal with intense cravings, whether they are for cheese, a burger or a piece of cake? Will the cravings ever pass?

NB: The best way to get past cravings for unhealthy foods is to just be away from them for a period of time, like three weeks. The 21-Day Vegan Kickstart helps you do just that and before you know it, going back to that meaty cheeseburger is not the pleasurable experience you remember.

KF: We are hearing so much about fiber these days — about how it is so essential if you want to lose weight and prevent disease. Can you bottom line the science on it for us?

NB: Fiber is plant roughage. And, yes, it really is the key to so many health issues. It fills you up, but has essentially no calories. It also helps your body eliminate cholesterol and excess hormones. Beans, vegetables, fruits and grains are loaded with fiber, but animal products have none at all.

KF: What’s the scoop on sugar? How does it make one overweight and unhealthy?

NB: A teaspoon of sugar has only about 15 calories — much less that the calories in chicken fat or other fats. The problem with sugar is that it dissolves — so you can’t see how much is actually lurking in foods. A 20-ounce soda has the equivalent of 16 teaspoons of sugar in a single bottle. That’s a lot of calories that you don’t need.

Also, if you look at sugary foods — cookies, cakes and candy bars — they have a lot of fat mixed into them. So the sugar lures you in and the fat is what ends up on your thighs.

KF: If someone has a sweet tooth, what do you recommend (other than fruit, of course!)?

NB: Well, I do recommend fruit, in all its varied forms. I always keep oranges, apples, tangerines and mangoes on my desk, and it really beats plugging quarters into a snack machine!

If you want to get more elaborate, you can make a smoothie with fresh fruit, nondairy milk and a banana. Also, in the 21-Day Menu, we share a dynamite vegan chocolate mousse recipe that will satisfy any sweet tooth.

KF: Can you explain how it’s ok to eat pasta?! That’s usually verboten in weight loss plans, isn’t it?

NB: It’s only verboten only on those primitive low-carb diets that seem to have long outlasted their usefulness.

Pasta is a grain, so it is not especially high in calories, and it has no animal fat or cholesterol. People in Asia or Mediterranean regions who eat noodles every day are healthy and thin.

When researchers feed pasta to volunteers, they find that it has very little effect on blood sugar. That is, it has a low glycemic index. The reason is simple: Unlike bread which is spongy and light and very quickly digested, each pasta noodle is densely packed. So no matter how much you chew it, it will digest more slowly, and its effect on blood sugar is very gentle.

What does matter is what goes on your pasta. Meat, cheese and greasy toppings are out. In my 21-Day Weight Loss Kickstart book, I have a recipe for linguine with artichoke hearts and seared oyster mushrooms that will seriously make you happy. Or how about a spicy arabbiata sauce? Or fresh basil, chopped Roma tomatoes, minced garlic and sauted shiitakes?

KF: How much and how quickly can you lose weight on your program? NB: It depends on how much weight you need to lose. If you need to lose just a few pounds, then off it comes. But if you need to lose, say, 50 or 100 pounds or more, the three-week program gets you started. It helps you learn about the foods that will burn that weight off and it resets your after-meal metabolism to a slightly higher level. In our studies, we found a 16 percent increase in after-meal metabolism that lasts for about three hours after each meal.

Now, if a person is losing weight gradually, I’m perfectly happy to see a weight loss of about a pound per week. After all, there are 52 weeks in a year. So let it come off in a healthful way.

KF: A lot of us eat out most days; do you have a guide to show what to order or where to go when dining out?

NB: We sure do; the Kickstart program has a great little pocket guide you can print out and stick in your wallet. It tells you what to look for when you are dining out whether it is Italian, Mexican, Japanese, or American cuisine.

KF: What’s a simple way to carry your program forward after the 21 days is over? NB: We encourage people to keep up their nutrition changes for the long-term. Many people continue with our message-board community more or less indefinitely. I also encourage everyone to ask their friends and family to jump in, too. Ditto for our friends at work. Creating support in your community or workplace is a great way to stay on the path to health. I also wrote the 21-Day Weight Loss Kickstart to give people lots more information and recipes that they can use for life.

    KF: Thanks, Dr. Barnard!
